Values and Ethos

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide, for each and every child in the School, a loving, caring environment, based on Christian principles, in which each individual can develop their full potential, educationally, morally and spiritually, and to provide the same quality of care and concern for all adults involved with our school community.

Core Values

Our core values guide the actions of our staff and children and bind us together as a strong community.

  • We are caring and we are kind.
  • We are always ready to learn.
  • We are determined and we are resilient.
  • We embrace difference and diversity.
  • We have a voice and we listen to others.
  • We encourage and we cooperate.
  • We contribute positively to our community.
  • We are environmentally responsible.

 Our School Prayer

The ideas for this special prayer came from discussion with the pupils. The School Councillors, supported by Father Richard, based the prayer on our school logo of a fishing boat in which Jesus and his disciples sailed.

Equality Objectives
  • To ensure equality of opportunity for every pupil, including those in receipt of Pupil Premium Grant, to quality teaching, an engaging curriculum and a broad range of enrichment and extra-curricular activities

  • To model teaching and learning behaviours that avoid labelling and to move beyond deterministic notions of ‘fixed’ ability

  • To narrow any gap between boys’ and girls’ attainment in reading, writing and maths (Y3 to Y6)

  • To tackle and eradicate prejudice related bullying and promote understanding in relation to the protected characteristics listed in the Equality Act 2010

  • To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through all appropriate curricular opportunities

  • To reduce prejudice and increase understanding of diversity and equality through direct teaching

  • To promote cultural development and understanding through a rich range of experiences, both within and beyond school

These objectives will be reviewed by the staff and governors on an annual basis.
