Wednesday 16th

9.00am
All is well in Liddington.

Everyone was up bright and early this morning and fuelled up with a hearty breakfast. Some even managed three separate courses, cereal, cooked breakfast, toast and fruit. Behaviour continues to be outstanding and by the time they had eaten, the children were raring to get onto today's activities.

The food at the centre is excellent, as you can see from the photos, and there is an extensive menu at every mealtime. The centre used to be a hotel and so the facilities, including bedrooms, are of a really high standard.

More news later.

10.50am
It is grey and misty at Liddington but the children are refusing to let that spoil their fun! They are part way through their first activity and having a brilliant time.
We even have some video footage of the Giant Swing!
2.30pm
The children are on a roll and coming to the end of their first activity of the afternoon. More photos just in.

3.30pm

It has been a busy old afternoon, with the children experiencing some new and exciting challenges like the Sensory Trail, Abseiling, Orieteering and Survivor

Sensory Trail - the sensory trail is a challenge in more ways than one. During the activity the children negotiate a series of obstacles – blindfolded – with the other members of their group guiding them.

Abseiling - The tower is over 10 metres high. The task - to walk backwards off the top, gradually working back towards ground level, suspended only on a rope. It’s all about trust, courage and confidence.

Survivor - an activity where the children find out if they have what it takes to survive and learn skills to stay warm and dry when all they have is what they can forage for in the woods. Each team must plan their camp, taking into account the prevailing weather and then share out tasks to get the shelter built before time runs out.

Orienteering - is a map-reading adventure! Each group learns the basics of map reading and then off they go in search of the control points located on-site. This activity is completed in groups, so the competition is on!

5.50pm
Having worked up an appetite with all of that exercise, the children are now on their way into dinner. All of the PGL Leaders are very impressed with the behaviour of Team St Paul's and everyone is in good spirits this evening.

Tonight is the big campfire and sing-song and everyone is really looking forward to a slightly more sedate evening and some sitting down.

More news later.
7.15pm

It is raining at Liddington this evening and so the campfire has been rescheduled for tomorrow night instead.

The last activity for today is Ambush. Like hide-and-seek but in the dark, and on a much larger scale! Groups split into small teams; one team hides within the centre grounds, leaving a trail for the other team to follow. Bonus points are available for ‘ambushing’ the opposing team.

Before heading out, today's birthday boy was sung to and presented with a delicious cake to share with his friends.

More news tomorrow - sleep well.
