Tuesday 15th

11.00am

Despite the grey skies, our intrepid explorers were in high spirits as they headed out to the playground. By the time bags and bodies were loaded, the coaches departed at 10.56am.

The journey to Liddington takes approximately an hour (traffic permitting) and I will send out a parent mail confirming the coaches have arrived safely.

More news later.

12.10pm
Year 6 have arrived at Liddington. Coach B passengers had slightly further to walk than planned as the coach grounded on the roundabout, but all is well and the children took it in their stride.

The drivers were delighted with the behaviour of our fabulous pupils during the journey - well done Y6! The children are currently stowing their bags in storage before they enjoy their packed lunch.
1.00pm

After lunch, the children had a chance to stretch their legs before heading out for the first of their activities.

Each group will complete one of the following:

  • Trapeze;
  • Buggy Building;
  • Giant Swing.

Buggy Building – the children work in groups to design and build a working buggy. There will be a number of components available, including large plastic barrels, ropes and poles. This is a great teamwork exercise and helps pupils improve their communication, problem solving and decision-making skills. Once buggies are ready to be ridden, the children will attempt to complete a number of challenges, including navigating around a slalom course.

Giant Swing - harnessed into a two seater swing which the rest of the group hauling it up to a height of up to 10m. It is up to each pair of passengers as to how high they want to go before pulling the release cord and hurtling down towards the ground, before swinging up again towards the sky. This activity is described as breath-taking!

Trapeze – the challenge starts with a climb to the top of a 6m pole. Next is to climb onto a small wooden platform and balance before making the leap to grab onto the trapeze. It is an exhilarating and heart pounding activity that the children love to conquer.

6.15pm
After dinner, the children will be heading out to the final activity of the day, Cluedo, where they will work in teams to solve a great mystery! Each group will be given a map marked with the locations of various characters who they must navigate their way to, to collect clues about various suspects. To obtain a clue, the children must first successfully complete a task. They collect points as they go and must try to be the fastest team to correctly identify who committed the crime.

More news later.
9.15pm
The children had a great time racing round the site gathering clues this evening and there was even time to serenade the Birthday Boy before presenting him with a delicious cake!

The children are now all ready for bed and tucked up in their rooms - sleep may be a little while away as there is great excitement about being away from home and at everything that has been achieved today. Fingers crossed that with all that fresh air and running around, the children will soon be out for the count!

More news tomorrow - sleep well.
